Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson said the Jamaican team is targeting the championship record of 1:29.04 in the 4x200m.

Thompson, Stephenie-Ann McPherson, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson, in that order, will aim at the record.

They will face Germany, Papua New Guinea, Japan and Nigeria in the heats of the women’s 4x200m at the World Relays in Yokohama, Japan on Sunday (10 May).

“Let’s see what happens after the heats. We have a strong team, we’re looking forward to a good race and hopefully, we’ll break the record,” said Thompson.

“It’s me to Stephenie Ann (McPherson) to Shelly-Ann to Shericka (Jackson),” she said. “I haven’t opened my season yet, so I’m using this as a test to see where I’m at right now.”
