Elaine Thompson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce are included in Jamaica’s team for the inaugural Athletics World Cup, set for July 14 and 15 in London.
Thompson, Rio 2016 Olympics sprint double champion, will run the women’s 100m while Fraser-Pryce, winner of back-to-back Olympic Games 100m titles in 2008 and 2012, will be apart of the 4x100m team.
Fedrick Dacres, the world leader in the men’s discus with 69.67m, is also in the squad of 40 for the meet. The meet is the same weekend as the FIFA World Cup Final, Russia 2018 and IAAF World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland.
The top eight nations on points, from the London 2017 World Championships, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, United States, China, South Africa, France, Germany, Jamaica and Poland are down to take part.
