Akeem Bloomfield became the second Jamaican to break 44secs in the men’s 400m. His 43.94 to join Rusheen McDonald as Jamaicans to run sub-44 was done at the NCAA Nationals on June 8th, 2018.
Bloomfield was beaten on the day by Michael Norman’s new collegiate record and world-leading mark of 43.61. Fred Kerley had the previous college best of 43.70, set in 2017.
