Merritt headlines 400m field at Bermuda Invitational

The men’s 400m will headline Friday’s (11 May) Bermuda Invitational, an Area Permit meeting, at the National Sports Centre in Hamilton, Bermuda.

LaShawn Merritt (USA), former world and Olympic Games champion, headlines the men’s 400m field. He will face Lalonde Gordon (TTO), Winston George (GUY), Brycen Spratling (USA) and Dontavius Wright (USA).

Gordon will also run the 200m against George, Marcus Chambers (USA) and Mike Berry (USA).

Jessica Beard (USA) and Ashley Kelly (BVI) are the favourites in the women’s 400m. Rushel Clayton (JAM), Yanique Haye-Smith (TCA) and Sade Sealy (BAR) are also good contenders.

Semoy Hackett (TTO) against Candyce McGrone (USA) will headline the women’s 100m. Cierra White (USA) is also expected to feature in this event.

Hackett, White and McGrone will also run the 200m. They will face Ashley Kelly (BVI), Jessica Beard (USA) and Tynia Gaither (BAH).

The Men’s 100m battle should be between Everton Clarke (JAM), Stephen Dill (BER), Jason Rodgers (SKN), Harold Houston (BER) and Jeff Demps (USA)

Jamaicans Tyler Mason and Deuce Carter are down to start in the men’s 110m hurdles.

Bruce De Grilla (BER) and Tyrone Smith (BER) will want to impress at home in the men’s long jump. Chad Wright (JAM) and Ashinia Miller (JAM) will contest the men’s shot put event.

In the women’s high jump, Jamaicans Daniel Atkinson-Grier and Kimberly Williamson, face Amina Smith of the USA and Antiguan Priscila Frederick.
