AUSTIN, Texas – LSU hurdlers Kymber Payne and Christian Boyd advanced to the finals of their respective 400-meter hurdles races on Friday evening after placing in the prelims late Thursday afternoon at the 91st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Built by The Home Depot.
Payne won the women’s prelims in a time of 56.74, while Boyd finished sixth in the men’s race with a time of 51.02. Boyd was just .02 seconds off of his personal best. Finals will run at 7 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Rookies Jurnee Woodward and Milan Young also set personal records in the women’s 400-meter hurdles with times of 59.09 and 59.99, respectively.
Jake Norris finished second in the men’s hammer with a throw of 233’ 2” (71.06m), while Noel Baker placed fourth in the women’s javelin with a mark of 141’ 1” (43.00m).
Ersula Farrow ran to a third-place finish in the women’s 800-meters invitational in a time of 2:07.59, just .10 seconds off her PR.
LSU returns to action on Friday at 9:35 a.m. with the preliminaries of the women’s 4×100 relay. The Lady Tigers squad of Mikiah Brisco, Kortnei Johnson, Cassondra Hall and Aleia Hobbs will make their qualifying run in the fifth heat. LSU is also sending a contingent of student-athletes to the Texas State Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas, on Friday and Saturday.
