Simone Facey has withdrawn from Jamaica’s 2018 Commonwealth Games to be held the Gold Coast in Australia.
Facey, who was selected to run the sprints, opted to skip the games because of travel uncomfortable arrangements.
“I have withdraw from the Commonwealth Games. I wasn’t comfortable with the travel arrangements that I received,” she wrote on her facebook page.
“It would have take me almost 40 hours to reach Australia,” explained Facey.
Facey won three World Championships relay medals, including a gold in Berlin 2009, for Jamaica. She also helped Jamaica to silver at the Rio Olympic Games.
The national 200m junior record holder said she is “very disappointed and heart broken” but “wish Team Jamaica all the best.”
