GLASGOW, Scotland — Commonwealth Games Scotland (CGS) has secured backing from both the Scottish and UK governments to proceed with plans to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Discussions with key stakeholders are ongoing, with a formal announcement expected once the process concludes successfully.

Following Victoria, Australia’s withdrawal as the previous host, the proposal will benefit from a multi-million-pound investment to finalize the event’s arrangements. Commonwealth Games Australia has expressed official support for the scaled-back version of the event, which will feature ten sports across four venues in Glasgow. Scotstoun Stadium is set to host the athletics competitions.

Further updates are expected as CGS works to confirm the city’s hosting role for the prestigious event.
