BUDAPEST, Hungary – IAAF president Seb Coe met with officials from the Hungarian Athletics Association to discuss the possibility of Budapest hosting the 2023 World Championships.
Coe also saw plans for the planned new stadium (south part of Pest) as he visited the city for celebrations over the 120th anniversary of the federation.
“In 2004, Budapest had a great Indoor Championship, I’m sure in 2023 it would not be otherwise,” said Coe who later also met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
General Secretary of the Hungarian Federation and EA Council Member Marton Gyulai also explained that 2023 World Championships will be the first awarded in a new process through negotiations with potential interested cities.
