Sprint legend Usain Bolt’s statue will be unveiled on Heroes’ Weekend.
Jamaica’s Sports Minister Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange told The Voice that the statue will be placed at Statue Park at the National Stadium in Kingston.
“Traditionally, when we celebrate the athletes’ achievements, we usually, over the last few years, plan the event for Heritage Week,” the minister was quoted as saying.
“Of course, in consultation with Usain Bolt’s management, we came to the understanding that he will be available for that weekend,” added the minister.
Minister reminded that in February of this year the renowned Jamaican sculptor Basil Watson was commissioned to design and create statues of four of Jamaica’s outstanding sports stars, Usain Bolt, Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce, Veronica Campbell Brown and Asafa Powell.
