RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil – Guyanese teenager, Brenessa Thompson, is not happy with her first Olympic Games experience.
Thompson, Guyana’s national record holder with 11.14, ran 11.72 in heat 2 for 7th in women’s 100m on Friday.
Netherland’s Dafne Schippers won the heat in 11.16.
“It didn’t go as planned,” explained Thompson. “I didn’t execute the race from the start.”
Although she has the 200m to come, the Texas A&M student’s disappointment is mainly because “the 100m is my strongest event, so I was looking forward to it.” She said the 100m disappointment should help her “a little bit” going into the 200m.
