Annsert Whyte proved that he was up to the challenge, when he won the men’s 400m hurdles, in a time of 48.66 seconds at the Supreme Ventures Jamaica Championships at the National Stadium.

The race was not without drama, as the National Junior record was smashed by Jaheel Hyde, who finished second in a new National Junior record of 48.81 seconds to book his place on the team to Rio.

Third spot went to Roxroy Cato, who finished in a time of 48.96 seconds. Importantly, all top three finishers finished in 48 seconds plus.
