TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama sophomore Quanesha Burks leads the Crimson Tide in this week’s world outdoor rankings with the No. 5 mark in the women’s long jump.
Burks broke the Alabama school record and won the 2015 SEC Outdoor Championships with a leap of 22 feet, five and one-quarter inches last Friday. The mark is the second-best jump by an American in 2015 and the best by over half a foot in the collegiate ranks.
Joining Burks on the list are seniors Alex Amankwah and Remona Burchell. Amankwah recorded the 18th-fastest time in 2015, running 1:45.91 on April 2 at the Florida Relays. Burchell posted a 100-meter dash time of 11.04 the same day. Burchell’s time is the eighth-fastest in the world this year.
