Jamaican Simone Facey captured the female 200m at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix held at Kawasaki in Japan on Sunday (10 May).
Facey, competing in her first 200m of the season, won in 22:65 seconds to turn back the likes of American Tiffany Townsend 22:85 and Marie-Josee TA LOU of Ivory Coast 22:88.
Facey, who was a part of Jamaica’s 4x100m winning team at World Relays, earlier ran in the 100m where she placed 3rd in 11:27 behind American Tianna Bartoletta, who topped the field in 11:26 and Marie-Josee TA LOU, 2nd placer finisher with the same time.
Jamaican Patricia Hall was second in the female 400m with a time of 51:99 beaten only by Nigeria’s standout Regina George 51:30 seconds.
The lone Jamaican male competing at the meet wasn’t so lucky like his female counterparts. Jermaine Brown was well beaten in the 100m as he could only muster 10:46 seconds for seventh as Hua Wilfried Koffi of Ivory Coast went on to win ahead of Japan’s Kei Takase. Both athletes registered the same time in 10:09 seconds.
Brown, a member of the record breaking 4x200m team at the World Relays in 2014, came back to snatch 4th place in his pet event with 20:78. Kenji Fujitsu of Japan took the event in 20:33 ahead of Kenya’s Carvin Nkanata 20:50.
