Rushell Clayton, representing The University of the West Indies (UWI) won her first Championship of America 400m hurdles title on Thursday’s opening day of the 2015 Penn Relays.

Clayton covered the Franklin Field Stadium track in 57.81 seconds to hold off the challenge of Jessuca Gelibert of Coastal Carolina 57.87.

“I’m in excellence shape at this moment,” while pointing out that  she didn’t do too well at InterCol. (March 31-April 1)

She also said that she is now looking forward to Jamaica Trials in June.

GC Foster College’s Ronda Whyte finished 6th in 60.18 seconds.

Whyte said the weather was a major factor. “The time was very cold and I am not used to these conditions.”
