Jonielle Smith showed good form at Saturday’s Auburn Invitational held inside Birmingham CrossPlex.
Smith, formerly of Wolmer’s Girls School, ran 7.45secs for the second fastest women’s 60m-dash time. She, however, withdrew from the final, which was won by Mikiah Brisco of LSU in 7.30.
Smith’s Auburn track and field team collected three individual wins and one relay win.
Auburn’s head coach Ralph Spry had high praises for Smith and the other athletes.
“We had a really good attitude and I am pleased with our effort. We had a couple of freshmen step it up in Jakayla Hand and Jonielle Smith, and Ebony Morrison and Teray Smith ran really well.”
Meanwhile, Chanice Porter of Georgia was 18th overall in the women’s long jump, her mark 5.36m.
