As reported one week ago by this website, world record holders Wayde van Niekerk and David Rudisha will join Usain Bolt for the JN Racers Grand Prix on June 10.

Both 24-year-old Van Niekerk, who stunned the track and field world when he ran 43.03 (WR) to win the Olympic 400m final in Rio, and Kenyan Rudisha, 28, the holder of the men’s 800m world record with 1:40.91, were announced at Friday’s launch by Glen Mills.

Mills, the President of Racers Track Club, also announced another special athlete – Mo Farah – for the meet dubbed “Salute to a Legend (Usain Bolt), who will retired from track and field this year.

Farah, the Indoor 2-mile world record holder, is the 2012 and 2016 Olympic gold medallist in both the 5000m and 10,000m.

Daegu 2011 Wold 100m champion Yohan Blake, former 100m world record holder Asafa Powell, London 2012 Olympic Games 200m silver medallist Warren Weir and Commonwealth Games 100m champion Kemar Bailey-Cole are among the locals expected to be on show.

American sprinter Jenna Prandini, along with Jamaicans Danielle Williams, the world 100m hurdles champion, and Ristananna Tracey are also listed.

The meet will offer special prize money for the winner of the 200m event.

The 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m are among the highlight of the 21 events down to be contested on the day.
