KINGSTON, Jamaica – Two-time Olympic Games 100m gold medallist, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who recently returned to her MVP training base, is predicted to do well in 2017, according to her long-time coach, Stephen Francis.
According to reports, Fraser-Pryce, who left MVP after the Olympic Games to join almost unknown coach, Renaldo Walcott’ s training camp at St. Elizabeth Technical in Santa Cruz, was forced to return because of her sponsors Nike. It was said Nike threatened to cut Fraser-Pryce’s contract if she remain in St. Elizabeth.
Speaking with RJR news, Francis said, he doesn’t think it will be a problem to prepare her for next season…. “Because of the fact that she really doesn’t have to compete at the trials.”
“She has had a number of years of preparation so it should be relatively easy to get her back to as close to her best as possible and probably even surpassing it,” said Francis of the defending World Championships sprint double champion.
Fraser-Pryce won the Olympic Games 100m titles in 2008 and 2012, but was third in Rio this past summer, running with a toe injury.
She has also won World Championships 100m titles in 2009, 2011 and the double in 2015.
