EUGENE, Ore. — Nike will debut a new athlete competition kit and its largest-ever retail experience at next week’s Prefontaine Classic, bringing a fresh look for competitors and an expanded merchandise collection for fans at Hayward Field.
Title sponsor of the Prefontaine Classic since 1978, Nike said the 2026 collection is designed to reflect the energy and intensity of race day while reinforcing the meet’s status as one of the world’s premier track and field events.
Nike-sponsored athletes will compete in a new race-day kit featuring Electric Green and Bright Crimson accents across singlets, shorts, tights, outerwear and accessories. The company said the design draws inspiration from growth, movement and breathing, using layered textures and circular patterns to represent the rhythm of performance and the pursuit of improvement.
The collection will make its debut when many of the world’s top athletes compete at Hayward Field, widely regarded as one of track and field’s iconic venues.
Fans will also have access to an expanded range of exclusive merchandise during the Marshfield District Fan Festival, where The Fieldhouse will serve as the event’s central retail destination. Organizers said it will be one of the largest consumer shopping experiences in Prefontaine Classic history, featuring exclusive men’s, women’s and youth apparel along with accessories.
Among the headline items are limited-edition t-shirts celebrating two of the meet’s signature events — the Mutola 800m and the Bowerman Mile.
The Mutola 800m shirt features reigning Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson, reigning world champion Lilian Odira and defending Mutola 800m winner Tsige Duguma.
The Bowerman Mile edition highlights reigning Olympic 1,500 metres champion Cole Hocker, defending Bowerman Mile winner Niels Laros and multiple-time Bowerman Mile champion Timothy Cheruiyot.
Only athletes who are reigning Olympic or world champions, defending Prefontaine Classic winners or multiple-time winners of the event were eligible to appear on the commemorative shirts.
Nike’s retail collection also includes a limited “Track Watermark” graphic t-shirt available exclusively to Friday night attendees, along with the official 2026 Prefontaine Classic t-shirt featuring this year’s meet poster on the back.
Additional merchandise includes jackets, hats, bags and other accessories inspired by collegiate athletics, vintage running culture and global sport.
The Fieldhouse will be open throughout the fan festival on Friday and Saturday. Organizers said quantities of several items are limited and encouraged fans to arrive early.
The Prefontaine Classic returns to Hayward Field next week and is expected to feature many of the world’s leading track and field athletes.
