The performances of Shantae Foreman, Shanieka Ricketts and Danels Mahautiere highlighted Saturday’s (January 6) Ted Dwyer Track and Field Classic on grass.

Hosted by Excelsior Community College, in honour of its founding principal, on the grounds of Excelsior High School, Foreman cleared 1.75m to take the Class 3 girls’ high jump.

She was also the best long jumper on the day with 5.61m.

Olympian Ricketts opened her season with 14.49m in the women’s triple jump.

MVP’s Mahautiere ran 10.92 to take the Class 1 boys’ event ahead of Brandon Bembridge of Excelsior, 11.18.

Michael Bentley, also of MVP, topped the men’s open 100m section in 11.00 ahead of his teammate Marcus Brown, 11.14.

Jaheim Henry of Morant Bay took Class 2 in 11.46, Domini Atwinstole of Wolmer’s was the Class 3 winner in 12.05 while Class 4 went to Excelsior’s Josiah James in 12.48.

Excelsior’s Class 3 sprinter Samoya Neil was the fastest girl on the day with 12.02 seconds. Her school took the top three places with Amoy McFarlane, 12.47 and Raven Reid, 12.67.

Annakay Maitland led St. Catherine High’s dominance in Class 2 with 12.38. Her teammates Kavel Ritchie, 12.40, Tucker James, 12.45 and Gordan Toyin, 12.50 rounded off the top four.

Sankyaw Tulloch, 12.56 and Abigail McLeod, 12.62, also of St. Catherine were the top two in Class 1.

Ma-avian Williams, 12.90 and Mikela Coombs, 13.11 were first and second respectively, in Class 4.

Kemba Nelson of MVP topped the women’s 100m in 12.12 ahead of her teammate Kimone Smith, 12.56.

Dorian Nelson of Excelsior with 58.98 in the Class 2 girls’ 400m dash and Ravens’ Alesha Kelly, 59.82, in the open section, were the only quarter milers under one minute.

Kewani Campbell of Excelsior ran 51.32 to take the Class 1 boys’ 400m while his teammate Malachi Johnson with 52.48 was the winner in Class 2

Tevin Thompson, 6.51m and Devoy Pinnock, 6.28m, both of Excelsior, were the top Classes 1 and 2 long jumpers.

Zico Campbell, throwing unattached, put the Class 1 boys’ shot 16.58m.

Emanuel Archibald topped the men’s open long jump section with 7.50m while Zaavan Richards threw 60.85m to take the javelin.
