Oblique Seville

Yohan Blake ran 10.27, but Oblique Seville and Ronda Whyte were the top performers at Saturday’s (24 April) JAAA Qualification Meet 9.62 for Seniors at the National Stadium.

Blake, the 2011 world 100m champion, easily topped his heat in 10.27 (-0.2m/s wind) for second overall.

Seville, who started in heat 2, seemed to work a bit hard than Blake for 10.24 against an unfavourable 1.2m/s wind.

Great Britain’s Miguel Francis, who trains at Racers Track Club, also won his heat, easing up across the line in 10.39 (-0.7m/s).

Michae Harriott of GC Foster College recorded the fastest time in the women’s 100m. She ran 11.69 to beat MVP’s pair of Kedisha Dallas 11.88 and Grizell Scarlett, 11.93.

Whyte, enjoying a good season in the 400m and 200m, showed good top-end speed to win Saturday’s half-lap event in 23.20.

Whyte led home her Sprintec training partners Shashalee Forbes, 23.31; Tovea Jenkins, 23.62 and Ashley Williams, 23.63.

Akeem Blake of Titans won the men’s 200m. He ran 20.97 in heat four while Sprintec’s Rasheed Dwyer topped heat 5 in 21.11.

Tissanna Hickling of GC Foster College won the women’s long jump with a leap of 6.19m.

Shawn-D Thompson, who beat world champion Tajay Gayle last weekend, lost this time around by Adrian Riley, 7.63m to 7.48m.

  1. I think Oblique Seville is has started the season well, and it seem he has a good foundation to put on some world class performances later on in the season. As a fan I am looking forward to a promising season for our male sprinters. Most promising so far are:
    Oblique Seville
    Julian Forte
    Yohan Blake
    Asafa Powell
