Yohan Blake has pulled out of the men’s 200m semi-finals here at the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 at Hayward Field in Eugene.
Blake, who ran 20.35 to qualify for the semi-finals, set for tonight, withdrew because of a swollen Achilles. Dennis Gordon, the team’s media liaison, confirmed the news to Trackalerts.com.
Yohan Blake’s personal best for the 200m is 19.26 seconds, the second fastest time ever behind Usain Bolt, 19.19 seconds.
He is also the second fastest man ever over 100m with a personal best of 9.69 seconds, sharing with American Tyson Gaye.
Blake won the Daegu 2011 world title but missed the finals here in Oregon22.
He could feature in the men’s 4x100m, which he said Jamaica has a chance of taking gold.
