Yanique Haye-Smith’s long wait to represent her adopted country Turks And Caicos Islands. She is currently here in Doha for the 17th IAAF World Athletics Championships.

“It’s a good feeling because I have been waiting four to five years waiting to compete for them. It’s a good feeling to put Trucks on the map,” she said.

“The season is good but could be better,” she said while admitting “lack of international meets” hampered her somewhat.

“I expect a personal best, but I have to take it round by round,” said the former St. Jago athlete.

“I can’t rush myself or put too many pressure on myself,” she said.
