EDMONTON, Canada – Jamaica’s World and Olympic medallist Warren Weir was beaten for the second time in two weeks, this time at the Edmonton International Track Classic, held on Sunday at Foote Field, Alberta, Canada                     

Weir, who two Sundays ago at the Jamaican Trials lost Rasheed Dwyer, finished second in 20.30 behind Canadian Aaron Brown 20.25.

The Caribbean only victory came in the men’s 110m hurdles where Barbadians Shane Brathwaite 13.43 and former world champion Ryan Brathwaite 13.44 secured the top two places.

Jeneba Tarmoh of United States won the sprint double. She ran 11.11 to beat compatriot Barbara Pierre 11.28 in the women's 100m. Jamaican Samantha Henry-Robinson 11.48 finished third in the event.

In the 200m, Americans Tarmoh 22.82, Shalonda Solomon 23.09 and Tiffany Townsend 23.29 finished 1-2-3 while Jamaican Patricia Hall 23.45 was 5th.

St Kitts and Nevis’ duo of Antoine Adams 10.38 and Jason Rogers 10.41 were 6th and 7th in the -2.2m/s affected men’s 100m, won by American Justin Gatlin in 10.05. 

Anastasia Le-Roy finished 3rd in the women’s 400m with 51.59 behind Americans Francena McCorory 50.43 and Joanna Atkins 50.74. All three women went below the meet record of 51.83 set by Tiandra Ponteen of St. Kitts and Nevis in 2010.

In the men’s one lap event, Rennie Quow of Trinidad & Tobago 45.67 and Jamaican Allodin Fothergill 46.00 were 4th and 6th respectively. Americans LaShawn Merritt 44.30 and Josh Mance 45.02 were the top two while Luguelin Santos of Dominican Republic ended 3rd in 45.04.
