EDMONTON, Canada – Trackie.ca informs that Edmonton is pulling out of the National Track League series 2017, and its departure is going to create a void in the local athletics scene.
The decision to withdraw from the elite summer loop is mostly a function of Alberta’s hard-hit economy, as provincial and municipal government funding has petered out for the annual TrackTown Classic at Foote Field.
With a budget of $405,000 last year, it was a relatively expensive but high-quality staple of the five-city NTL.
