Tobago's best high schools athletes will vie for honor at the two-day Tobago zonal National Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships, which get underway on Tuesday at the Carnbee/Mt. Pleasant Recreational Grounds.

Action starts at 9 o’clock in the morning on Tuesday.

Reigning two-time Carifta champions Chelsea James and Andwuelle Wright will lead Signal Hill Secondary School.

James will contest the Girls’ Under-18 Shot Put and Discus and is favored for double gold.

At last year's Carifta Games in the Bahamas, James retained the Girls’ Under-17 Shot Put crown and broke the games record for the second straight year.

The Tobago Falcons athlete was also fourth in the discus.

Wright, who won back-to-back Carifta Boys Under-17 Long Jump titles, is expected to compete in the Boys’ Under-18 Long Jump and High Jump.

Tyriq Horsford will also be in action in the Boys’ Under-16 age division.

Horsford was the star at last year's National Championships where he won four gold medals.

Khemani Roberts and Shaquana Scott are also expected to lead the charge for the Signal Hill.

He will compete in the Boys’ Under-16 division.

The Moses brothers Edson and Anson, Omari Benoit and cross country champs Jedial Walters and Silinni Acosta will be looking for gold  for Bishops.

Scarborough Secondary has Safiya John, Anieca Baptiste and Nku Henry in its line up.
