Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson, after her impressive performance in Thursday’s Rome Diamond League, said she is getting better and better.

The 23-year-old won the women’s 100m in a season’s best 10.87 seconds.

"I feel like I am getting better and better each time I race and I know I will continue to improve," Thompson told the Gleaner.

American English Gardner finished second in 10.92 while Barbara Pierre, also of USA, clocked 11.13 seconds for third place.

In the 400m, national record holder Rusheen McDonald finished eighth in the event in 46.05.

South African Wayde Van Niekerk won in 44.19 seconds ahead of Bralon Taplin of Grenada, 44.43

Meanwhile, in the women’s triple jump, Shanieka Thomas was third with a leap of 14.46 metres and compatriot Kimberly Williams, fourth with 14.38m.

Catherine Ibarguen of Colombia won the event with 14.78 metres.

Jamaican Fedrick Dacres finished fourth in the men's discus with a throw of 63.50 metres. Robert Urbanek of Poland won with a throw of 65.00 metres.
