(EUGENE, 21 July) – Elaine Thompson-Herah took to social media to share her story a couple of hours after failing to medal in the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 women’s 200m final.
Thompson-Herah could only manage seventh in 22.39 seconds. The event gold medal went to her teammate Shericka Jackson in a new championship and jamaica’s record 21.45 seconds.
“It hurts,” she wrote on social media.
Elaine Thomspon-Herah continued by saying, “We give it our best shot. It was tough this time around.”
She also said, “My setbacks early this season fighting to train and compete was really hard.
“I am not where I want to be but grateful to get my first 100-metres world championship medal (bronze),” she said.
Jamaica took all the medals in women’s 100-metres, with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce taking gold ahead of Jackson and Thompson-Herah.
The Jamaican ladies will now turn their attention to the 4×100-metres.
