Elaine Thompson Herah and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce won their 200m heats at Sunday’s (9 Aug) Velocity Fest Meet 4 at the National Stadium in Kingston.

Olympic Games sprint double champion Thompson, however, recorded the day’s best time of 22.19, the second-fastest time in the world this year.
Bahamian Shaunae Miller-Uibo’s 21.98 is the fastest time in the world so far this year.
Bahamian Anthonique Strachan, who trains at MVP in Jamaica, finished second behind Thompson Herah in 22.67.
Shericka Jackson, the Doha 2019 World Championships 400m bronze medallist, was third in heat 3 with 22.70.
In heat 2, World 100m champion Fraser-Pryce was the winner in 22.57. Fraser-Pryce’s time gave her second overall.
Natasha Morrison, who was second behind Fraser-Pryce, crossed the line in 23.66.
Romario Williams topped the men’s 200m in 20.46 (1.8m/s wind) ahead heat one winner Rasheed Dwyer, 20.74 (3.4m/s wind).
Nigel Ellis, 20.81 and Oshane Bailey, 20.84, were third and fourth respectively.
