St. Jago boys and Edwin Allen girls are the early leaders at Central Champs, the penultimate stop in the Digicel Grand Prix Series.
St. Jago boys are out front at the end of day one with 148 points, well ahead of Edwin Allen, 40, Holmwood 31, Glenmuir, 23, and Bridgeport, 22.
On the female side, Edwin Allen will start Wednesday’s final day on 123 points, 24 more than Holmwood, 99 and Vere, 67.5. St. Jago with 62.5 and Hydel, 59 rounded off the top five.
Tuesday’s opening day saw the 1500m and 400m hurdles as the only track finals.
Jody-Ann Petrie of St. Jago won the girls’ open 400m hurdles in 1 minute, 00.32 seconds.
Edwin Allen’s pair of Gabriell McDonald, 1:00.43 and Janiel Moore, 1:01.92, were second and third respectively.
Shamar Brown of Christiana High took the Class 2 boys’ 400m hurdles event in 56.11 while Coy Spence of St. Jago came out on top in the Class 1 event with 54.77.
Cemore Donald, 4:40.84, and Kayan Green, 4:43.58, both of Edwin Allen, were the top two finishers in the Class 2 girls’ 1500m final. Chrissani May of Holmwood took Class 1 in 4:38.71 ahead of Vere’s Britnie Dixon, 4:40.00 while Aneisha Lawrence of Bellefield with 4:45.34 won in Class 3.
In the boys’ 1500m finals, Tajshae Wilson of Bellefield took Class 1 in 4:11.65, Davian Gray of Spaldings, Class 2 in 4:18.13 and St. Jago’s Corlando Chambers, the Class 3 event in 4:37.93.
Lushane Wilson cleared 2.05m to beat his teammate Tony Haughton, 1.95m, for the Class 1 boys’ high jump title while Damar Marshall, 1.85m, and Vanderleer Palmer, 1.80m, both of St. Jago, were the top two Class 2 high jump boys.
Lamara Distin of Vere won the Class 2 girls’ final with a clearance of 1.75m.
Tissanna Hickling of St. Jago leapt 13.29m to win the triple jump open for girls.
Shaday Hudson of Holmwood came out on top in the Class 2 girls’ shot putt field with 13.99m.
Gabrielle Bailey of St. Jago won the Class 1 girls’ discus throw with 49.11 over Edwin Allen’s Fiona Richards, 45.97m.
Ackelia Smith of Edwin Allen leapt 5.83m for victory in the Class 3 girls’ long jump.
St. Jago’s Roje Stona threw 54.97m to take victory in the Class 1 boys’ discus final.
Oshane Israel of Glenmuir with 5.83m took the top spot in the Class 3 boys’ long jump final.
Anthony Symile of Edwin Allen threw 14.51 to take the Class 2 boys’ shot putt title.
