Champs 2016 fastest sprinters, Jhevaughn Matherson (KC), Nigel Ellis (STETHS) and Raheem Chambers (St. Jago), made light work of their first round heats on Thursday #taChamps.

Michael Campbell of Jamaica College (JC) will be the one leading them into the semi-finals with the day’s fastest time of 10.83secs.

Matherson, running into a negative 2.2m/s wind, was very, very easy in taking heat 2/10 in 10.95. “I just wanted to get through the rounds and hope everything comes through for the final,” said Matherson, who ran a personal best 10.25 to win at the Carifta Games Trials, two weekends ago.

Ellis, the fastest in the field at 10.20PB, took heat 1, 11.04 ahead of Travis Hines of St. Mary High, 11.28 and Bonanza Cummings of Herbert Morrison, 11.33.

“I am feeling okay,” he said after his first 100m run.

Chambers, running into a negative 3.8m/s wind, ran away with heat 3 in 11.02. “I am not watching anybody, just going to perform at my best and make my school and family proud,” said Chambers, who has a personal best of 10.27.
