LUBBOCK, Texas – Jamaican Shivnarine Smalling, helped by the wind, ran a fast 10.18secs, at the Masked Rider Open in Texas on the weekend.
Smalling, formerly of Newell High and Kingston College (KC), beat Kenneth Turner of USA, 10.25, in the race, which was aided by 3.2m/s wind.
Smalling ran 21.13 and 21.21 respectively in the heats and final of the 200m.
Sean Bailey of Jamaica won the 400m in 45.76 ahead of Orwin Emilien (MRI), 48.37.
Okeem Williams of Jamaica won the men’s 400m hurdles in 51.04 ahead of compatriot Rayan Holmes, 51.32.
Jamaican Travis Riley was the best in the men’s long jump with 7.80m. He beat Bahamian Laquarn Naurn 7.75m.
Grenadian Kellon Alexis topped the men’s discus with 55.54m.
On the women’s side, Mauricia Prieto of Trinidad and Tobago won the women’s 100m in 11.44 ahead of Omotayo Abolaji of Nigeria, 11.54. The wind was postitive 2.8m/s.
