KINGSTON, Jamaica – Olympic Games silver medallist Sherone Simpson failed to make the final of the women’s 100m here at the 2014 JAAA Supreme Ventures National Senior Championships.
Simpson, whose participation here was due to a “stay of execution” from The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), finished fourth in her semi-final of the women’s 100m. Her time 11.34 was not enough to get her into tonight’s final.
Kerron Stewart won the event in 11.09 ahead of Elaine Thompson 11.28.
In semi-final one, Veronica Campbell-Brown took top honours in 10.97 ahead of Natasha Morrison 11.06.
Semi-final 3 went to Carrie Russell in 11.26 ahead of Samantha Henry-Robinson 11.30secs.
Schillonie Calvert 11.08 and Anneisha Mclaughlin 11.33 also qualified for the final.
Meanwhile, in the men’s event, Nickel Ashmeade recorded the fastest time going into tonight’s final. Ashmeade 10.02 won semi-final one ahead of Kemar Bailey-Cole 10.06, and along with Kimmari Roach 10.21 and Oshane Bailey 10.26, qualified for the final.
Jason Livermore won semi-final 2 in 10.05 ahead of Julian Forte 10.10, Nesta Carter 10.17 and Andrew Fisher 10.21. They all booked places in the final.
