KINGSTON, Jamaica – Citizen Advice Bureau/RJR Basic have retained the corporate area INSPORTS Basic School Athletics Championship which ended at the National Stadium on June 5 (Full Results Here). 

The defending champions won for the second straight year after amassing 127.5 points, ahead of Torrington Early Childhood Institution (101 points) and Spanish Town-based Gemglows Kindergarten who finished third on 74 points. 

Torrington, however, topped the female category with 69 points ahead of the CAB/RJR Basic (54) and Gemglows, 52 points. But the title was truly decided in the male category with the CAB/RJR accumulating 73.5 points, well ahead of Excelsior Pre-Primary (57), Jahmona Basic (32) and Torrington 32 points.

Torrington’s valiant attempt to dethrone Citizen Advised Bureau Basic was led by Class 1 athlete Amelia Francis, who was the overall female champion after producing 16 points to her team’s cause. 

In contrast, though, Chevone Davis, who also tallied 16 points, was the top male at the championship, but his team Herrick Basic finished 11th in the combined team score with 27.5 points.
