From some of the forecasts coming from all corners, the period might justifiably earn the name, Silly Season. A passionate friend of the sport, Collie, a Jamaican working in Djakarta, Indonesia, called this website’s attention to some sprint whisperings appearing in the USA Today newspaper.

Trackalerts.com, who has had their own attempt in the exercise, takes the liberty to publish. The usual disclaimer about “not being our views” is on display.

In an article, under the name of sports writer, Paul Meyerberg, and prefaced by “Usain Bolt will try to score three gold medals as he says goodbye to the Olympics, this is what the nationwide publication predicted.

100m

Men
1. Usain Bolt, Jamaica
2. Justin Gatlin, USA
3. Trayvon Bromell, USA

Women

1. English Gardner, USA
2. Tori Bowie, USA
3. Elaine Thompson, Jamaica

200m

Men

1. LaShawn Merritt, USA
2. Usain Bolt, Jamaica
3. Justin Gatlin, USA

Women
1. Dafne Schippers, Netherlands
2. Shaunae Miller, Bahamas
3. Tori Bowie, USA

It is noted that the author has the Bahamian sprinting star, Miller, doing the double, as he also gives her a silver in the 400m. However, Merritt over Bolt for the world record holder’s favourite event, which he claims to own – Amazing!!!

  1. Why not? Merrit has the endurance by being a 400m guy. And Bolt strenght is in the later end of the 200m where most 100m sprinters would slowdown except for Merrit who will accelerate so I don’t think it is completely out of the blue
