21.69M is the new Jamaican shot put record. That was the distance O’Dayne Richards achieved for victory at the Pan Am Games in Toronto, Canada.

Richards’ mark is also the Pan Am Games Record.

Richards was followed by Timothy Nedow of Canada who threw a season best of 20.53M to get the silver medal and German Lauro of Argentina got the bronze medal with a throw of 20.24. 

Richards’ personal best prior to the Games was 21.68, the previous national mark. He is also the Commonwealth Games champion

Raymond Brown, the other Jamaican in the final, managed to walk away with the 9th best throw of 18.39M. His personal best is 20.35M.
