NASSAU, Bahamas — First day of action at the 2018 Bahamas National Championships saw Olympic 400m champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo winning the women’s high jump on Saturday.
Miller-Uibo, who revealed earlier this year that she intends to enjoy this non-major championships season by trying out several out several different events, cleared 1.70m to win the competition.
Miller-Uibo, who won the Rio 2016 Olympic Games 400m title, has been using her versatility to spread her wings across athletes this season.
She set a lifetime best of 16.23 in the 150m, flashed to a new world indoor record over of 35.45 seconds for the 300m, while posting times of 49.52 and 22.06 for the 400m and 200m events.
Meanwhile, her husband Maicel Uibo from Estonia competed in the men Shot Put and produced a mark of 14.43m.
Meanwhile, Lataro Collie stretched out to 16.53m to win the men’s triple jump, while action on the track saw Warren Fraser winning the men’s 100m in 10.36 seconds, running into a -0.4 m/s headwind.
Alonzo Russell was the quickest in the men’s 400m heats with a time of 45.91.
