Jevaughn Powell and Charokee Young lead the men’s and women’s 400m fields going into Sunday’s (26 June) finals at Jamaica Trials.

In the women’s 400m, Charokee Young, Stephenie-Ann McPherson, Stacey-Ann Williams and Candice McLeod easily booked their tickets.
Charokee Young topped heat 1 in 50.19 ahead of Stephanie-Ann McPherson, 50.67 and Tiffany James-Rose, 51.84.
In heat 2, Stacey-Ann Williams, who trailed Junelle Bromfield into the last 50 metres, finished strong to take the top spot in 50.87. Bromfield held on for second in 51.18.
Candice McLeod was the heat 3 winner in 50.85. Roneisha McGregor, who was third in the heat, but will take the second automatic spot in 51.18
Barbadian Sada Williams ran 51.30.

In the men’s 400m, Jevaughn Powell, Anthony Cox, Nathon Allen, Akeem Bloomfield and Christopher Taylor are all into the final, set for Sunday afternoon.
Powell, the championship favourite, left it late, but came through easy to take heat 1 in 45.38. He won ahead of Karayme Bartley, 45.67 and Gregory Prince, 45.70.
Semi-final two produced five of the eight qualifiers. Cox, like Powell, left it to take victory on the line in 45.43 ahead of Allen, 45.52 and Bloomfield, 45.59.
Also in the final are Christopher Taylor, 45.67 and Javon Francis, 45.70.
