NASSAU, Bahamas – Asafa Powell’s withdrawal from this weekend’s IAAF World Relays #Bahamas2017, is due to tightness in his hamstring.

Trackalerts.com caught up with Powell’s manager Paul Doyle, who gave the reason for the withdrawal.

“It’s really precaution, after the meet in Grenada he had a little tightness in hamstring, and so he took it easy for a couple days in training… Just really not wanting to risk anything racing too early,” explained Doyle.

Powell, the former world 100m record holder, won his 100m race at the inaugural Grenada Invitational meet on April 8 in 10.18 seconds.

Doyle said Powell will next race in Doha.
