BEIJING, China – Jamaica’s Hansle Parchment and Omar McLeod both qualified for the final of the 110 metres hurdles after finishing second in their respective semifinals heat at the World Championships here on Thursday.
Parchment ran 13.16 seconds but was second to Sergey Shubenkov of Russia, who did 13.09 as Garfield Darien of France was third in 13.25. Barbados’ Shane Brathwaite finished fifth in 13.31.
McLeod was second to Aries Merritt of the United States of America. Merritt clocked 13.08 seconds with McLeod doing 13.14 as Paschal Martinot-Lagarde of France finished third in 13.17. Barbados’ Gregmar Swift was seventh in 13.44.
Jamaica’s Andrew Riley failed to qualify from the third semifinals heat as he ended fifth in 13.43 seconds as the race was won by Dimitri Bascou of France in 13.16 as David Oliver of United States of America was second in 13.17 and Matthias Buhler of Germany third in 13.34.
