BEIJING, China – Jamaica’s Janieve Russell and Kaliese Spencer and Janieve Russell ended the 400 metres hurdles final in sixth and eighth respectively at the World Championships here inside the Bird Nest Stadium.

Spencer, expected to figure prominently in the race, had a poor start and never recovered to finish last in 55.47 seconds as Russell, drawn in lane eight ran blind to the rest of the field and ended 54.64.

The race was won by Zuzana Hejnova of Czech Republic in a world leading 53.50 with the United States of America’s pair of Shamier Little and Cassandra Tate finishing second and third in 3.94 and 54.02 respectively.
