Shaunae Miller-Uibo at Doha Dimond League

Shaunae Miller-Uibo was the only Caribbean winner at Saturday’s (18 Aug) Diamond League meeting in Birmingham, UK.

The Bahamian continued her dominance over the half-lap distance this year. She ran 22.15s to beat a high-quality field.

Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith, who ran a world-leading 22.88 to win the European title last week, finished second in 22.31s.

Dane Schippers of Netherland ran 22.41 for third while Jamaica’s NACAC champion Shericka Jackson ended fourth in 22.55.

Jamaicans hurdlers Ronald Levy and Janieve Russell were second place finishers.

Levy ran13.22 to finish behind Orlando Ortega of Spain, 13.08 in the men’s 110m hurdles.

Russell, in the women’s 400m hurdles, crossed the line in 54.91s behind Lea Sprunger (SUI), 54.86.

Yohan Blake produced another sub-10 second, 9.99s, but had to settle for fourth in the men’s 100m. American Christian Coleman won with 9.94s, the same time given to second placer Reece Prescod of Great Britain.

Tyquendo Tracey, 10.15s, was seventh in the event.

Tajay Gayle was also a second-place finisher in the men’s long jump. He leapt 8.17m to lose to Luvo Mayonga, 8.53m.

Daniel Thomas-Dodd threw 17.72m for fourth place in the women’s shot put. Christina Schwanitz of Germany, 18.20m won the event.

Yanique Thompson did not finish the women’s 100m hurdles. Pamela Dutkiewicz of Germany won in 12.84.
