Natoya Goule wins in Brussels Diamond League

The Bislett Games, Oslo Diamond League, has seen many world records over the years and this year’s Diamond League meeting could add to them with Devon Allen and Armand Duplantis in action.

Jakob Ingebritsen will exploit home advantage in the Dream Mile, while Femke Bol, Valeria Allman and the women’s 5000 meters will be the other highlights in Oslo Diamond League.

Men in Oslo Diamond League

100 meters: Olympic 200-meter champion Andrew De Grasse steps down. Benjamin Azamati, a 9.90-second runner is quickest on paper this year with Reece Prescod and Akani Simbine also there.

400 meters: Kirani James looks to be a class apart. Also in shape Alexander Ogando from the Dominican Republic.

Mile: Jakob Ingebrigtsen is there as the main hometown attraction. Jake Wightman, after his recent 3:32, could be next best. Ismael Debjani, Oliver Hoare, Samuel Zeleke and Neil Gourley are also in the running.

5000 meters: World indoor 1500 meter champion Samuel Tefera steps up. Telahun Bekele and Getnen Wale are the sub-13 runners in the field.

110-meter hurdles:  Is the world record really under threat? Why not – Devon Allen clocked 12.84 on Sunday in NYC; Omar McLeod and William Belocian are the best of the rest.

400-meter hurdles: Without injured Warholm, Alison dos Santos could be well clear. Rasmus Magi with his big improvement in Turku should also be considered.

Pole vault: Armand Duplantis heads the four six-metre vaulters, including Thiago Braz, Sam Kendricks and Renaud Lavillenie.

Long jump: Olympic champion Miltiádis Tentóglou tries to extend his winning streak to 10, but faces tough opposition, including decathlete Simon Ehammer, Emilano Lasa and Thobias Montler, who have all jumped at least 8.27m this season.

Women in Oslo Diamond League

200 meters: Only Ida Karstoft and Dalia Kaddari have gone under 23 seconds this year, with Beth Dobbin hoping to break through that mark again.

800 meters: Keely Hodgkinson is the athlete to beat, seeking to get back her world lead. Halimah Nakaayi, Renelle Lamote and Jemma Reekie are also in the field with Laura Muir looking for speedwork.

5000 meters: World record-holder Letsenbet Gidey looks to make up for a narrow Eugene win with Ejgayehu Taye missing this time; Gudaf Tsegay is another threat. Eilish McColgan is closing in on the European record.

400-meter hurdles: Femke Bol chases her first sub-53 run of the year, while Jessie Knight and Anna Ryzhykova may be heading the running for second.

Shot: The momentum is with Chase Ealey after her win in Hengelo over Auriol Dongmo, who seeks revenge here.

Discus: Valerie Allman is favourite to extend her unbeaten 2022 streak with Sandra Perkovic and Kristin Prudenz the main challengers.
