Chantel Malone, the Pan Am Games long jump champion, was named Female Athlete of the Year

Chantel Malone and Kyron McMaster are British Virgin Islands Sol-sponsored Athletes of the Year. The British Virgin Islands Athletics Association hosted their annual awards ceremony on December 27.

Malone, the Pan Am Games long jump champion, was named Female Athlete of the Year while McMaster, who finished fourth in the Doha 2019 World Athletics Championships 400m hurdles final, took the male award.

Malone also walked away with the Most Improved and Most Outstanding (record breaker) Female Athlete Awards.

Beyonce Defreitas and Djimon Gumbs were named Junior Female and Male Athletes of the Year, respectively.

Adaejah Hodge and Akrisa Eristee shared the female youth award while Jaleel Croal was the top male.

Tahesia Harrigan-Scott, who won bronze in the women’s 60m at the Valencia 2008 World Indoor Championships, was given the Association Life Time Achievement Award.
