New US 100m champion Noah Lyles is to compete over 200m at the Lausanne Diamond League on July 5. He will also compete over the same distance in Monaco on July 20.

Having clocked a world-leading for 200m at 19.69secs earlier in the season. He also went to No.1 over 100m at the US Championships with 9.88.

Schippers explains the false start

Meanwhile, Dafne Schippers said the reason for her false start in the 100m at the Dutch Championships might have been due to the fact her blocks were not properly adjusted.

“I’m actually not even disappointed, but more amazed,” she the world 200m champion.

“I’m sure I did not have a false start, I think the blocks are not properly adjusted,” she explained.

“In the men’s race there were also two false starts,” she said. “My biomechanist was behind me with a laser and he also said that it was not a false start.

“I did not come here for a good time, but for the public in my hometown, I wanted to give something back to Utrecht.”
