FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Sophomore Dajour Braxton and freshman Ruby Stauber lead LSU’s men’s and women’s cross country teams respectively this morning (28 October) at the Southeastern Conference Championships.

Braxton placed 36th individually with a time of 25 minutes, 23.9 seconds, pacing the men’s team who placed 11th with 296 points. Stauber recorded a time of 21:58.2 to earn 54th-place, while her efforts led the Lady Tigers for a 12th place team finish with 366 points. The men and women ran the 8k and 6k races at Agri Park.

“The women ran well and placed the highest in many years,” Head Coach Khadevis Robinson said. “The men performed decent but we could have run better.”

Braxton finished roughly two minutes after the men’s individual winner, Alex George from Arkansas. After Braxton for the Tigers were junior DC Lipani and senior Christian Johnson. Lipani and Johnson placed 58th and 68th, recording times of 25:75.9 and 26:16.5 respectively. Freshman Harrison Martingayle followed the upperclassmen with a time of 26:50.6, finishing in 84th-place individually.

Junior Daniel Tanner was the fifth Tiger to finish as he placed 98th with a time of 27:42.5. The Tigers’ efforts were closed out by junior Bryan Stamey and senior Blair Henderson. Stamey finished with a time of 28:10.0 to earn 103rd-place. Henderson crossed in 105th-place with a time of 28:42.5.

For the Lady Tigers, Stauber was followed by senior Ashley Welborn, who crossed in 83rd-place with a time of 22:31.7. Sophomores Hannah Bourque and Erika Lewis were the third and fourth finishers for the women’s team. Bourque and Lewis crossed in 98th and 102nd-place, recording times of 23:01.0 and 23:04.6 respectively.

Junior Rebecca Little was the fifth Lady Tiger to finish as she crossed the finish at 23:19.5 and 111th-place individually. Senior Jenna Walker and junior Ellen Barkemeyer rounded out the Lady Tigers’ efforts. Walker finished in 114th-place, recording a time of 23:24.9. Barkemeyer finished in 23:45.5, placing 124th.

The Tigers and Lady Tigers will return to Fayetteville in two weeks on November 11 for the NCAA South Central Regional also held at Agri Park.
