Raymond “KC” Graham was seen in tears after Kingston College’s (KC) disappointed showing in the High School Boys' 4×100 Championship of America final here on Saturday’s final day of Penn Relays.
Graham, who had to be consoled by KC’s principal Dave Myrie, cried because he said the team was changed for the final. Graham said the school’s head coach used a member of the 4×1 team in the prelims of the 4×4, which weakened the team's chance.
The quartet of Chadayne Walker, Mario Williams, Antonio Henry and Stephen Clunis finished 5th in 40.25, but according to Graham, Clunis should not have ran in the 4x400m heats earlier.
“This was our best chance for a title,” said Graham.
“We decided to give the team the best chance, none of them (athletes) would take part in any other event,” added Graham, who said they wanted to add something special to KC’s 50th anniversary, even though we were not at full strength.”
