Five records tumbled on Friday’s (4 Mar) opening day of the Corporate Area Champs at the National Stadium.

Kingston College (KC) boys and Excelsior girls were the pacesetters at Corporate Area Champs.
Kingston College (KC) 77 points lead Jamaica College 67, Calabar 47, Wolmer’s 12 and Campion 9.
On the girls’ side, Excelsior is way out front on 100.50. Immaculate 54.50, Wolmer’s 46.50, Camperdown 30, St. Andrew 28 and Alpha 28 rounded off the top five.
Jvoughnn Blake of Jamaica College (JC) set a new record of 3:53.38 in the Class 1 boys’ 1500m final. Blake’s teammate Handal Roban also went under the previous mark of 3:56.13 with 3:54.76.
Nickecoy Bramwell of Calabar ran 11.10 to lower the 2019 old Class 3 boys’ 100m record of 11.13.
Wolmer’s Natrece East also set a new record, 25.17, to erase the Class 4 girls’ 200m mark of 25.47.
Also setting a new record in the heats was Mickaila Haisley of Immaculate, who ran 11.91 in the Class 2 girls’ 100m.
In the field, Trevisha Parchment got the only record, throwing 37.19m in the Class 3 girls’ discus final.
Bouwahjgie Nkrumie into final at Corporate Area Champs
Bouwahjgie Nkrumie of Kingston College was the fastest on the day, running 10.54 to qualify for Saturday’s Class 1 boys’ 100m final.
JC also finished 1-2 in the Class 2 boys’ 1500m final with Rasheed Pryce, 4:11.05 and Tyrone Lawson, 4:12.11
KC’s Nahashon Buto topped the Class 3 boys’ event in 4:23.18 ahead of JC’s Glory Lake, 4:34.73.
Gabriella Gordon of Excelsior won the Class 1 girls’ 1500m final in 5:30.47. Holy Childhood’s Jeneail Henry 5:13.69 won in Class 2, and Nickayla Clarke of Excelsior, 5:02.72, won in Class 3
Nichlas Power of Calabar won the boys’ steeplechase in 6:15.73 ahead of Kingston College’s pair of Darnel Edwards, 6:20.03 and Omar Spencer, 6:23.00.
The Queens pair of Crystal Coke 8:13.25 and Shenell Simms, 8:36.23 were the top two from the girls’ steeplechase.
