Javon Francis won the men’s 300m dash at Thursday’s (23 July) PVAMU Back To The Track Series, Meet 1, in Texas, USA.

Francis, Rio 2016 Olympic Games 4x400m silver medalist, ran 32.98 to take a comfortable victory.

The two-time Jamaican 400m champion beat Kahmari Montgomery, 33.29 and Elijah Hall, 36.17.

Francis, heat one winner of the men’s 150m in 15.79, finished 3rd overall behind Cordero Gray, 15.64 and Montgomery, 15.65.

In the women’s event, won by American Natasha Hastings in 36.51, Grenadian Kanika Beckles, 38.76 and Jamaican Rushelle Burton, 42.19 were 4th and 5th respectively.

Burton, who is a sprint hurdler, ran 7.99 for 6th in the women’s 60m dash. She also ran the 150m dash and finished 8th in 18.93 (-1.9m/s).

Guyanese Brenessa Thompson, winner of heat one in 7.69 (-1.3m/s wind), was 3rd overall in the women’s 60m. Morolake Akinosun won the event in 7.46 (-2.0m/s) ahead of Gabrielle Thomas, 7.52.

Thompson was 4th in the 150m event, her time 17.80. Thomas won in 17.22 ahead of Hastings, 17.70 and Candyce McGrone, 17.79s.

Barbadians Mario Burke, 6.73 (-1.4m/s) and Shane Brathwaite, 6.96 (-1.5m/s) finished 3rd and 8th respectively in the men’s 60m. Elijah Hall won the event in 6.71 (-0.7m/s) ahead of Bryce Robinson, 6.71 (-1.4m/s).
