Shiann Salmon wins at NACAC Champs

TEXAS, USA – Jamaicans Shiann Salmon and Verone Chambers were winners at the Texas A&M Invitational held on Saturday, 22 Feb at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium, College Station.

Salmon, a member of Jamaica’s Doha 2019 World Championships team, won the women’s 400m in 53.74.

Jania Martin of Texas A&M 54,04 and Diana Granados of Northwestern 57.58, were second and third respectively.

Chambers topped the women’s 300m in 38.20. She beat fellow Caribbean athletes, Kanika Beckles of Grenada, 38.76 and Semoy Hackett of Trinidad and Tobago, 39.24.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Deon Lendore was the men’s 300m winner in 33.21. He beat Warren Hazel of St. Kitts and Nevis, 33.97

James Benson of Southeastern Louisiana University won the men’s 400m in 46.34.

Jamaican Chanice Bonner, 7.51 finished third in the women’s 60m dash. Amber Ivy of Texas A&M won the event in 7.43.

Ryan Martin won the men’s 60m dash in 6.80.

Guyanese Brenessa Thompson, 24.15, was 5th in the women’s 200m. Ashley Spencer was the event’s winner in 23.28.

James Benson of Southeastern Louisiana University won the men’s 200m in 21.07.
