Jamaica won silver in the women’s 4x400m final here at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
They were beaten by the United States team, which led at all the exchanges.
Stephenie-Ann McPherson started things off for Jamaica and handed off to Anneisha McLaughlin-Whilby, who maintained things for her team.
Shericka Jackson made up some ground on American Phyllis Francis, which left Novlene Williams-Mills and Allyson Felix to battle on anchor.
Felix, considered as one of the best sprinters (100m, 200m, 400m) in modern athletics, did not lose focus when Williams-Mills pulled up within striking distance.
Williams-Mills, who led Jamaica to an indescribable victory over USA at last year’s World Championships, tried her best, but Felix was unstoppable down the straight.
The 400m silver medallist, opened the lead to take USA across the finish line in a season best 3:19.06 ahead of Jamaica 3:20.34.
Courtney Okolo and Natasha Hastings were the other members of the US team.
Great Britain and Northern Ireland, anchored by former World and Olympic 400m champion, Christine Ohuruogo, finished a distance back in third, their time 3:25.88.
